Aurora DeLuca began diving into photography while she was pregnant with her first child, working as an instructor at a beautiful family horse farm, and on leave from law school. That began a journey into portrait photography, newborn photography, macro photography, and finally pet and equine photography. Aurora holds her Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman from the Professional Photographers of America and her Fellowship of Photography from the Professional Photographers of North Carolina (PPNC). She has held leadership positions in both organizations, most recently concluding five years on the board of PPNC, including as president and chairwoman of the board.
As a young child in Tucson, AZ, pretending her tricycle was a pony, Aurora began developing an obsession for all things horse-related. She began riding officially when she was ten, on a sweet mare named Tea. After competing in primarily Western Pleasure as a child and early teen, she began working in English pleasure with her thoroughbred, Magic. She joined the IHSA hunt seat team at Mount Holyoke College and began an intense but brief foray into the Hunter world, spending the summers managing a family Arabian breeding farm. After graduation, Aurora moved to Australia for her Masters degree and worked as an instructor at a riding academy where she studied vaulting, eventing, and, her favorite, dressage. Later, she had the pleasure of working at a beautiful Friesian farm in Connecticut, continuing to work on her dressage, and developed a small recreational vaulting program. Today, Aurora works with her young Akhal Teke gelding, Kova focusing on dressage, show jumping, and western disciplines. She also has two basenji dogs, Willie and Dina, who are delightful trouble makers.
